The Star Brisbane is gearing up to introduce the initial phase of its $3.6 billion Queen’s Wharf precinct, unveiling a diverse lineup of cultural, culinary, and entertainment features on August 29, 2024.
Situated along the Brisbane River, this new precinct will undergo a series of openings, with The Star Brisbane serving as the focal point of the 12-hectare area. From late August through September and continuing throughout 2024, a variety of new restaurants, bars, public spaces, and other attractions will open their doors.
“Like many in Brisbane, I’m excited about this game-changing development that will revitalize the CBD and our nighttime economy. We’ll soon share more specific dates for your calendars,” said The Star Brisbane CEO Daniel Finch.
“Public spaces will be among the first to open, including the Sky Deck viewing platform, Miller Park, and the Neville Bonner Bridge linking Queen’s Wharf to South Bank. Our event centre is ready to host a full calendar of events and conferences starting in early September. We’re also preparing to welcome our first guests to the five-star The Star Grand, with bookings opening very soon.”
Several new dining and leisure experiences have already been announced for The Star Brisbane, including the live entertainment venue LiveWire.
“LiveWire will be one of our first venues to open, supporting and enhancing Brisbane’s nighttime entertainment economy. It will be a safe and vibrant venue featuring music, comedy, live performances, special events, and late-night entertainment.”
The phased opening of The Star Brisbane promises more exciting announcements coming later in the year.
“We want to ensure our team members are well-prepared, our facilities are tested, our processes are flawless, and our guests have an exceptional experience they’ll want to repeat,” Finch explained.
“Not everything will open at once on day one. This means returning guests will always find something new to enjoy, not just at The Star but also across both sides of the river.”
Previously announced venues include the Sports Bar, celebrity chef Luke Nguyen’s Fat Noodle restaurant, the Japanese eatery Sokyo, and the Cherry bar, all of which will be open from day one.
The first phase of the multi-staged opening from August to September and throughout 2024 will include:
- 7.5 hectares of public space including Neville Bonner Bridge, upgraded Bicentennial Bikeway, Miller Park, Sky Deck viewing platform, and Leisure Deck on Level Seven.
- Newly created green space The Landing, opening after the Riverfire fireworks event.
- A trio of restaurants at Sky Deck.
- 340 hotel rooms, including four penthouses, three swimming pools, and Sokyo Japanese restaurant.
- 1440-seat ballroom with pre-function bar and outdoor terrace.
- LiveWire, Sports Bar, Fat Noodle, Food Quarter, Cherry, main casino floor, and premium gaming rooms.
- Gymnasium, additional food and beverage outlets.
The second phase of the multi-staged opening will include:
- Dorsett and Rosewood hotel towers.
- Velo Cafe
- Retail Stores
- Ice-creamery and other dining options.
