A CAD (computer aided design) drawing consisting of a conceptual plan and some measurements landed on our desk. The brief was to design and fabricate a custom DJ deck and façade. The plan for the facade consisted of a myriad of angles and symmetry, designed to produce clean lines and a sleek finish.
Nothing unusual in that, we frequently receive requests to design and manufacture custom staging of all kinds. Easy enough to achieve in most instances, but with a limited timeline, this project would need all hands on deck and some extra effort. The requirement was to have the DJ station designed, built, tested and ready to go on tour within 10 days. The Megadeck team however, rose to the challenge and produced the bespoke touring piece in record time.
Our manufacturing department constructed two adjoining wedge shaped aluminium frames that consisted of angled sections welded to horizontal bars. The sturdy framework was then bolted onto two custom Megadeck DJ decks.
The sleek lines of the framework were finished with 2pac black to provide a glossy overall effect. The open design of the structure proved ideal for enhancing lighting, as can be seen in the accompanying images.
On-tour staging equipment such as this, needs to be easily transportable and able to be quickly assembled and packed up ready to hit the road for the next leg of the tour. This essential criteria was a key element in the design and fabrication of this project.
